I just finished watching the pilot for the new series on Showtime, ‘Homeland’ which premieres October 2nd after the season premiere of Dexter. You can follow this link to watch the pilot on YouTube (don’t worry its legal, uploaded by Showtime). The show stars Claire Danes, Damian Lewis, Mandy Patinkin, and Morena Baccarin, it centers around the life of a CIA agent (Danes) who believes that a released POW US Marine (Lewis) who was imprisoned and torture for eight years, may have been turned by his Al-Qaeda captors. As Danes characters battles with her unstable mind, the possible threat on US soil, and keeping her theory under wraps the fight for the truth won’t be easy. Mandy Patinkin portrays Danes only friend in the CIA that she relies on with her knowledge of the turned Marine with Baccarin the not-so faithful wife of the returned prisoner.
Basically, if you like interesting plots, talented actors, and smart dialogue then this show is for you. If you decide not to watch this show then you are making a huge mistake. Claire Danes alone is a brilliant actress (see Temple Grandin) and she really shines as the somewhat unstable main character. Do I need to reiterate that she’s a female, CIA agent? You all know how much I love my kick-ass female leads. Some of you may recognize Damian Lewis from ‘Life’ or ‘Band of Brothers’, as far as I can tell he’s the perfect fit for the role of Sargent Brody. I won’t take up any more of your time raving about this show which I know will end up being critically acclaimed if it isn’t already. Please do yourself a favor and check it out! Oh. I feel as though I should warn you, this is a Showtime show which means it will be graphic, violent, profane…etc etc.
